FIRE DOOR & COMMUNAL AREA INSPECTIONS
Apart from the obvious, there are strict rules governing fire safety on our estate:
- No barbecues on balconies or in proximity to buildings (please use barbecue area in water garden)
- No storing personal items in communal areas, cupboards, or on escape routes, that could cause obstruction
- Never prop open fire doors in lobbies
- Since Grenfell, fire safety regulations require an annual fire inspection ; organised by Wildheart management.
- From 2023, annual fire door safety assessments also have to be done. See video guides below.
Please further consult our list of guidelines for living on the estate for more info.
FIRE DOOR & COMMUNAL AREA INSPECTIONS
This video gives advice about fire door inspections. It should take about two minutes per door, and the inspector can do it from your threshold but the door must be able to be opened for the full inspection. First inspection is April 2023 and annually thereafter. Look out for updates: someone will need to be in, to open the door to the inspector on the allotted day.
Responsibility for doors meeting fire standards lies with the leaseholder.
This short video explains what is and isn’t allowed in our communal areas including entrance holes and lobbies. Please remove anything not supposed to be there.

Please keep cupboards clear - nothing should be left in communal cupboards.
The internal doors separating lobbies are fire doors and must remain closed.
